Following the tremendous success of the inaugural Big Library Read in May, we are excited to announce the next Big Library Read with an eBook and corresponding MP3 audiobook title for young readers just in time for back to school. This is an opportunity to add a simultaneous use title for community-wide access from your library at no cost.

What is Big Library Read?

It is a worldwide digital version of a local book club, and an opportunity for each library to generate more interest in its digital collection. We are delighted to share with you the gracious offer extended by HarperCollins Publishers and the author, Jane O'Connor. Lending model: Both the eBook and audiobook will be available for simultaneous use. Note: During this program only, checkouts for the eBook will not count against licenses purchased by your library if you already have this title in your digital collection.

How does the program work?

The title(s) will be featured in a prominent location on your library's OverDrive-powered website at no cost. All card holders can borrow the title(s) at any time during the program to participate in the Big Library Read (simultaneous use, no wait lists). The title(s) will expire at the end of the lending period and not at the end of the program. During the Big Library Read program, OverDrive will measure title impressions, views, checkouts, and social media interaction to further its advocacy efforts for libraries in validating the unique and valuable role they play in connecting readers with books and authors. Aggregated data will not contain any personally identifiable information and will be shared with publishers, libraries, and library associations.

At the end of the program, the title will be removed from your collection (unless previously purchased) and available for purchase in OverDrive's Marketplace should your library wish to offer continued access (both formats will be available for $4.99 USD each). If your library had already purchased the eBook version from HarperCollins, the title will be restored to its metered access model at that time.

When is the next Big Library Read?

The next Big Library Read will begin September 16 at 12 AM EST and run through September 30, 2013 at 12 AM EST.

Who can participate?

The Big Library Read program is open to all OverDrive library partners worldwide. Participation is on an opt-in basis. Simply email your Account Specialist by September 6. The title will then be automatically added to your digital collection on September 16.

What resources are available to promote the Big Library Read?
