To kick off 2014, we are excited to announce the next worldwide Big Library Read event that will appeal to nearly all of your patrons. This is an exciting opportunity to offer a simultaneous use title for community-wide access from your library at no cost.

Lending model: The eBook will be available for simultaneous use, meaning no holds or waitlists for users.

How does the program work?

The title will be featured in a prominent location on your library's OverDrive-powered website at no cost. All card holders can borrow the title at any time during the program to participate in the Big Library Read. The title will expire at the end of the lending period for each user, not at the end of the program. During the Big Library Read program, OverDrive will measure title impressions, views, checkouts, and social media interaction to further its advocacy efforts for libraries in validating the unique and valuable role they play in connecting readers with books and authors. Aggregated data will not contain any personally identifiable information and will be shared with publishers and library associations as well as interested library trade media.

At the end of the program, the title will be removed from your collection (unless previously purchased) and available for purchase in OverDrive's Marketplace should your library wish to offer continued access ($31.19 USD in the One Copy/One User lending model). If your library has already purchased the title, it will remain in your collection and be converted to the simultaneous use model for the duration of the program.

When is the next Big Library Read?

The next Big Library Read will begin the afternoon of Monday, February 17 and conclude the morning of Wednesday, March 5 (US Eastern Time).

Who can participate?

The Big Library Read program is open to all OverDrive library and school partners worldwide. Participation is on an opt-in basis. Simply email your Account Specialist by February 11. The title will then be automatically added to your digital collection on February 17.
