Thank you for your reply Ms. Mary. I am forwarding to the Libraries Southwest membership. I am to keep them informed of my task to be placed on the awards ceremony.
I regret that we cannot portray support of a fellow director from our state who has been a long-standing member of LLA.
However, I respect your committee’s work and efforts at making LLA run effectively. Your reasons listed are very understandable. I can see how the problems could complicate things. Thank you so much for your response. Good luck in your planning and I wish you much success at LLA.
Sincerely,

Subject: Re: Lynda Carlberg Award
Linda, The LLA Award Ceremony is presided over by the first vice-president. All LLA awards, along with scholarships recipients are given out or recognized at the ceremony. I have done research on the awards ceremony and which awards are presented. The Lynda Carlberg Award is not a LLA award. I know the award has been given out a number of times over the years at the yearly dinner. The few times it was given out at the LLA awards ceremony was because the winners were state consultants or know throughout the state, but it did cause some problems because other members received awards from other reputable organizations and were not recognized or awarded at LLA. Last year there was a problem because a well respected library professor received an acclaimed award from the American Library Association and many members were upset that it was not recognized at the LLA Awards ceremony. We have had other members receive prestigious awards from other associations that we do not include at the LLA Awards ceremony.
We want to keep the LLA Awards ceremony for the LLA awards. It was becoming a problem of giving awards that were not from the association.
If I can find a list of LLA members who received awards from other library organizations we may be able to recognize them at the awards ceremony.
The Public Library Section can announce the award at the PLS luncheon.
Thanks for understanding,
Mary

Hello Dr. Lebert-Corbello,
I am including the LLA First Vice President, Mary Cosper-LeBoeuf and the LLA Office in this email. Mary presides over the awards ceremony and the LLA office constructs the program with Mary. I hope this information helps.
Best wishes,
Paula

How would we schedule to present the Lynda Carlberg Award at LLA? I would probably present the award. Thanks!
Amanda Taylor an long time member of LLA and Director of Concordia received the award from Libraries Southwest at our annual dinner.
I think it is great that Louisiana librarians know we look to the professional membership of the state to present this award yearly.
