Actually it will go straight through most all firewalls. xml-rpc rides on
top of http and or https protocol which most firewalls pass
without a problem. I have never looked at the internals of up2date but I
would assume it is python like most of their tools. If this
is the case and they ship the source version I could easily create a free
up2date server, if someone else has not already done so.
