I've been meaning to post about that...

I'm not sure how far you want to go with up2date (since Update1 actually
put us on track with the RHEL version), but take a look at the version
that is currently in Fedora Core "development" (aka Rawhide).  It has the
added feature of grabbing a list of Repos from an HTTP server and picking
one of them as the mirror to use for the updating.  Current packages are
mirrored at (long URL warning):

http://mirror.hiwaay.net/redhat/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/Fedora/RPMS/up2date-4.3.11-2.1.i386.rpm
http://mirror.hiwaay.net/redhat/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/Fedora/RPMS/up2date-gnome-4.3.11-2.1.i386.rpm

Remember, this is Rawhide and version numbers are subject to rapid change.

Also, bumping up to a newer version of RHN-applet (with the patches for
whitebox-release of course) wouldn't hurt my feelings.  I've been using
the 2.1.7 version and other than one (reported to bugzilla, see below)
issue it has been working fine.
