I'm not running an FTP server on Linux ... but vsftpd is being run by
ftp.redhat.com, ftp.suse.com, and ftp.openbsd.org. It is also the
recommended ftp server by the Security Alert Consensus (SAC) group at
SANS (www.sans.org).

I would say learning to configure vsftpd is the best move ... based on
the fact that is in use by most of the enterprise guys.  (Just my
opinion...)
