BAH!  Forget it.  It wasn't a DHCP issue at all (is it ever?).  The
network card wasn't working properly.  In answer to your question, it's
a 3Com 3C905 Boomerang.  I replaced it with another one and THAT one
wouldn't work either.  Finally, after rigging an internet connection
using the OTHER network card and doing some googling, I ended up
disabling Kudzu and both cards started *magically* working.  Now if I
can just get Samba to behave...
