[WBEL-users] Any luck with JNI FCE-6460 Fiber channel cards

Thanks for the replies. I called AMCC/JNI "support" this morning and they
said that they initially planned to offer closed source linux drivers then
make them open-source. The printed docs included with the card and
marketing stuff I found on the web say that this card is supported on linux.
Somewhere along the line, they decided (or AMCC decided) not to pursue linux
drivers, though and they will not be releasing a closed source driver. I
tried rolling a custom kernel with everything that even remotely seemed like
it might contain support for the card and it is still not recognized. Part
of the reason that I chose WBEL as the distro for this project is because of
the theoretical added reliability of a stable disto like RHEL, so I was
trying to get away from rolling my own kernel or using devices that are not
supported by the stock kernel. I will likely exchange the cards for Qlogic
2340's.

Thanks again,
Dave
