Just huge "Wow! Thank you!" After discovering that I needed to install kernel-unsupported, firewire has been working like a charm. This is the first distro where it has worked for me out of the box. I still have residual "this can't be true" in my head, but I've been hammering an external hard drive for hours without any hint of a problem. Now to figure out that stupid laptop NIC.... :-)
