According to Knowledgbase at http://www.redhat.com, there is two
supported controllers currently:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 3 and the current version of Fedora
support the following SATA chipsets:
* Intel's ICH5 SATA chipset
* Silicon Image's SATA chipset
At present, the Promise SATA chipset used in some Dell products is not
supported. However, Promise SATA support is expected in a future update
of both Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 3 and Fedora.

I have Sil 3112 chipset but I have only half of normal HDD performance
(Kouwell SATA PCI card).
