Hi all,
I am trying to configure NIS for WBEL and the server won't start and
when I run it in debug mode doesn't really print useful information
here's a summary:
#rpcinfo -u localhost ypserv
rpcinfo: RPC: Program not registered
program 100004 is not available
bummer should have been something like
#rpcinfo -u localhost ypserv
program 100004 version 1 ready and waiting
program 100004 version 2 ready and waiting
then:
#ypserv -d
[ypserv (ypserv) 2.8]
Find securenet: 255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0
ypserv.conf: dns: 0
ypserv.conf: files: 30
ypserv.conf: xfr_check_port: 1
ypserv.conf: 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0:*:shadow.byname:2
ypserv.conf: 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0:*:passwd.adjunct.byname:2
and then returns to #
and finally, to end all doubt:
#/etc/rc.d/init.d/ypserv
no discernible result...
HELP! Anybody who has set up a master server, please set me straight..
The only changes I made to set it up were:
1. I added netgrp to the all: rule in /var/yp/Makefile
2. I created the file /var/yp/securenets:
mynetmask mynetwork
where mynetmask and mynetwork represent quad notation of my configuration
3. I added 2 lines to the /etc/passwd file:
+user1::::::
+user2::::::
where user1 and user2 represent users with id's above 500
Thanks,
Will
