I know that mc was discussed not too long ago, you might check the list 
archives.  I seem to remember something about getting fc1's mc and 
compiling it on whel.

As for yum.conf, I've been rsyncing from a mirror and pointing yum to my 
local internal repository.  Sorry I can't help there.
