If they did it as recommended, you have to compile and install the 
correct src.rpm.

[root@rk6 po]# rpm -q redhat-release
redhat-release-3AS-9.2

You can extract only the version with:

root@rk6 po]# rpm -q --queryformat=%{version}\\n redhat-release
3AS
