I should also point out that I just read in my mb manual that IDE3 and
IDE4 are reserved for ATA66 and ATA100 so I guess that would explain why
I can not access the hard drive since it is on IDE3 as a stand alone
primary.

To fix this problem, I'm going to remove the rarely used tape drive and
put the cdrom in it's place on IDE2 as a Slave to the DVD.
