Short question :
I bought a NEC 3500D DVD+/-RW unit for my workstation. I'm familiair with
SCSI CD-R stuff, but ATAPI is new to me.

>From 'dmesg'
hda: C/H/S=20510/81/100 from BIOS ignored
ide0: ports already in use, skipping probe
hdc: _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdd: WDC WD2000JB-55GVA0, ATA DISK drive
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
hdd: attached ide-disk driver.
hdd: host protected area => 1
hdd: 390721968 sectors (200050 MB) w/8192KiB Cache, CHS=24321/255/63

I first tried using 'cdrecord -scanbus -dev=ATAPI' which showed the burner
OK. However burning a regular CD-R failed almost instantly.

Then I started looking into the ide-scsi thing, following the CD Writing
howto but those indications (grub boot option 'hdc=ide-scsi') caused the
box to fail booting.

ATM k3b doesn't understand the hdc device as either a reader or writer.

Is there anybody here with experience on how to get this to work in a simple
way? Thanks in advance!
