I just DL'd and did a couple of installs of CentOS-3.3. One is a
complete install of all packages, the other simply a webserver install
with all the goodies a typical webserver could have.

The install process was pretty much identical, just some different
CentOS graphics. The only snag I have hit so far seems to be the thorn
in the side of WBEL as well.... up2date/yum update. I wound up needing
to do a

rpm --import http://mirror.caosity.org/centos-3/RPM-GPG-KEY-CentOS-3

to get the key set right. So far, in my download of the distro and my download of updates, there seems to be plenty of fast mirrors.

The CentOS website is undergoing major changes at the moment. They are about to put up a wiki and FAQs are being rebuilt at the moment, so there isn't much there. Also, the group apparently could use a little money from time to time to help with the cost of bandwidth and such. The updates seem to happen quickly. I think I'll be doing some conversions, which I understand are easy to do. I bet we could twist Johnny Hughes' arm a bit and get him to put up a howto on the subject. ;) (thanks already for all you do Johnny!)

I was looking at both CentOS and WBEL from the start. CentOS at that early point seemed to be a bit too disjointed as the 'group' worked out what it was going to do. I liked better the 'exact copy' scenario, which is apparently where CentOS wound up, and where WBEL was from the very start.
