[WBEL-users] Possible "CD 2" media check problem?

I've noticed that problems with "CD 2" have been quite rampant, to the
point of being a FAQ. I ran across this in alt.os.linux.redhat, and I'm
wondering if RH released some broken "media check" code (is that in
anaconda?). I've never run the media check when I've done the installs,
and I've never had a problem either.

Hmm, so did I (wasted quite a bit of time so far).
What were your problems?

My .iso downloads went fine, the md5sum checks were
spot on, but the media check during installation said
that CDs 2 & 4 were bad. I've written CD2 with various
software and hardware - always bad.

Are they really bad, or is the media test misleading me?

What bad things can happen if I install from bad media?
Will it just fail part way through or will I get a corrupt
installation?

That question in the next-to-last paragraph is what triggered this
question - with *so many* people having trouble, is it possible the
media check is bad, and not that there are just a bunch of people who
don't know how to burn a CD?
