[WBEL-users] WB host behind linksys router can't see out (or in)

I don't think jumping up and down is required--I find
hiccuping works. I'm afraid not to turn around, though
and haven't tried omitting that step.

Somewhere in the rats nest of the GUI I saw DNS fields
empty, so I entered
192.168.1.1
64.<what they told me is valid>
<some other valid DNS server IP>

golly, now I can see out and make google work.

QUESTION: either the 192.168.1.1 is wrong or the others,
I guess one day I might stumble on the GUI again and could
wipe out 192.168.1.1 or the other two and see for myself,
but I'll know sooner if someone tells me.

The Linksys router lets me specify socket pass-through.
I couldn't see in, though, until I accessed the router and mapped
apps to ports and LAN IP for the machine. Did so, it works. I'm
a genius again. I don't understand why my wife isn't more thrilled.

Doesn't respond to ping, but I kind of like that, as cracker
spiders have less to discover.

Thanks, Greg! No, this one box is the only box.

My next challenge is to see if I can get this one router
to pass a different static ip address to a different LAN host,
a second machine I have ready to go live.
The hope is packets coming in to either of my two paid-for
static IPs will be directed to the appropriate hosts.
Further hope is that then I can learn about load-balancing
and have several machines for each static IP address.
