[WBEL-users] Changing ram disk size

I am trying to increase the ram disk size to 512mb from the default of 8mb
I have added the following to the grub.conf

        kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-20.9 ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
ramdisk_size=16000
        initrd /initrd-2.4.20-20.9.img

But it still keeps the default value of 8mb

Any clues ?
