[WBEL-users] rsync mirror down ?

All of my other rsync jobs work fine.  When I connect to NCSU, it tries 
port 0, even when I specify port 873.

$ rsync -vvvrt rsync://mirror.physics.ncsu.edu::whitebox/3.0/en /tmp/
opening tcp connection to mirror.physics.ncsu.edu port 0
rsync: failed to connect to mirror.physics.ncsu.edu: Connection refused

$ rsync -vvvrt --port=873 rsync://mirror.physics.ncsu.edu::whitebox/3.0/en 
/tmp/
opening tcp connection to mirror.physics.ncsu.edu port 0
rsync: failed to connect to mirror.physics.ncsu.edu: Connection refused

Here's a working example:
$ rsync -vvvrt 
rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/redhat/redhat/linux/8.0/en/iso/i386/MD5SUM 
/tmp/
opening tcp connection to mirrors.kernel.org port 873
wrote 100 bytes  read 772 bytes  1744.00 bytes/sec

$ rsync --version
rsync  version 2.5.7  protocol version 26
$ rpm -q rsync
rsync-2.5.7-5.3E

I just this second typed:

rsync rsync://ks.physics.ncsu.edu

and got back a result, showing whitebox as one of the rsync nodes.

I then ran my rsync command: (sorry about the wrap, it's all supposed to 
be on one line)

rsync -Pvptrl --exclude=SRPMS --delete 
rsync://ks.physics.ncsu.edu/whitebox/3.0/en/os/i386/ 
/whitebox_mirror/3.0/en/os/i386/

and got back the appropriate responses.

Have you checked to ensure that your ISP/work/etc isn't blocking port 873?
