I have found after a few google hours, that there is a problem with the VIA 
chipset included in my motherboard and that I should use the noapic kernel 
parameter in order to avoid the problem. Everything seems realted to
the 2.4kernel series.
 I will keep posting more info if i find anything new. Will try the noapic 
later this afternoon and report back.
