an easier method is to install the sun JDK rpm and download the src.rpm
for the java-1.5.0-sun-compat-1.5.0.05-1jpp src package from jpackage
and build and install that, or download the binary RPMS of that package
if available (it's in the non-free sections). That will setup all the
dependencies and setup the alternatives system so "java" will point to
the right place. that is what I do for Fedora and (unfortunately) MDK
systems.. It should work just as well on EL4.
