It is very strange that you have package errors.

Assuming that the distro works (I'm sure it does), the problem is most
likely caused by a bad install media.

You should check the MD5 value of your iso file prior to burning it AND
check all the install media before doing an install.

You can also check all the RPMS by going into the RPMS directory of each
ISO and using the command:

rpm -K *.rpm > ~/check_rpms

then the command (to review the output):

less ~/check_rpms

You can get the files via the whitebox linux tree:

http://mirror.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/mirror/whiteboxlinux.org/4/en/os/i386/WhiteBox/RPMS/

or

http://mirror.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/mirror/whiteboxlinux.org/4/en/updates/

(and pick the arch in question)

That is where OS and update RPMS are located ... you can also pick a
closer mirror here:

http://www.whiteboxlinux.org/download.html

If you are going to try CentOS, then I would recommend you install it
from ISO, not replace some packages from a bad install ... especially
since you obviously have a problem with some of the RPMS. Though I
expect that the problem is either bad downloads or bad burn process of
media, which will probably manifest itself in your process to obtain
CentOS CDs as well.

Look at this for ways to check the CDs:
