Hi Y'all,
I'm trying to run sar and it stopped functioning:
/root # sar -q
Invalid system activity file: /var/log/sa/sa20
/root # sar
Invalid system activity file: /var/log/sa/sa20
I tried to uninstall it and then re-install the package,. but to no avail.
I keep getting the same error.
This has actually happen several months ago,. but I neglected to take care of it.
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 May 20 00:00 sa
/var/log/sa # ll
total 5860

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 257136 May 19 23:50 sa19
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 173288 May 20 16:00 sa20
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 11 23:53 sar11
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 12 23:53 sar12
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 13 23:53 sar13
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 14 23:53 sar14
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 15 23:53 sar15
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 16 23:53 sar16
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 17 23:53 sar17
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 18 23:53 sar18
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 407362 May 19 23:53 sar19
So something is happening,. but the sar itself is not able to read the files created.
/var/log/sa # sar -q 1 20
Linux 2.4.21-32.0.1.ELsmp (bess.hosites.com) 05/20/2006
04:09:40 PM runq-sz plist-sz ldavg-1 ldavg-5 ldavg-15
04:09:41 PM 1 286 0.74 0.99 0.96
04:09:42 PM 1 285 0.74 0.99 0.96
04:09:43 PM 0 285 0.68 0.97 0.95
04:09:44 PM 0 284 0.68 0.97 0.95
04:09:45 PM 0 284 0.68 0.97 0.95
04:09:46 PM 0 283 0.68 0.97 0.95
(this is probably running from memory as it is a 'live' reading)
So sar, by itself it running correctly,. it just can't read the sysstats log files or something like that.
Any pointers?
Thanks,
-Alon.
