[Lswtalk] Periodical subscriptions

I've received a copy of your email and would like to let you know some of the frustrations I had with WT Cox. We have been with the company for about a year now & I'm still working on missing orders, communication problems, & the use of their web site (not user friendly). I've contacted WT Cox through emails/phone calls that was not returned within 24 hours or less. Some situations it was well over month, and sometimes through a 3rd party before someone contacted me and handled the situation. I feel a company representing itself in trying to save us monies should also have a good customer care services. Dealing with a new company will not at first meet all I needs, but within a year this should have been resolved. I'm hoping after our 3 year contract I will feel different about WT Cox.

If you notice, I am including Deborah Reder in this email, because she is the paraprofessional in this office that handles magazines. We went with Cox about a year ago - a 3-year contract to save money, and I have heard lots more frustrations from Deborah about magazine orders than I heard in the past (with whatever company handled our magazines). She can give you details from her perspective.

Hi Erin,

Calcasieu has been having the same discussion too. Below is our Collection Development Coordinator, Debbie LeBeau, response. I also have a question.

"I have the exact same question. We have been an EBSCO customer forever and are considering switching to W. T. Cox. Is there anyone who has made the switch and are happy they did so? Or not happy? Please share your experience with us.

Debbie LeBeau"

Is anyone using Ebsconet for online claiming and, if so, are you happy with it?

Loretta

Good morning, LSW party people!

We've been using Ebsco as our periodical "jobber" for ... ever, it seems. We are not having any problems with them, but in a comparison quote from W.T. Cox, it seems we can get the same subscriptions for
about $1,000 less per year. Part of me is saying to live by the
if-it-ain't-broke adage, but another part of me is yelling that I could do quite a bit for the library with that $1,000 next year.

So this led me to wonder : who are all of you using for your periodical subscriptions? Is Ebsco the reigning king of the region? Does anyone have opinions of / experience with W.T.Cox you can share?
