[Lswtalk] LSW individual members?

Hey everyone, 

It seems that this was an oversight on my part. I'm the person that usually collects the membership information/dues and compiles the membership list. 

I hope we can discuss the membership list and the mailing list at the next meeting. I have a few questions. 

I seem to remember a discussion about the mailing list/membership list situation that we had several months ago. I believe I was told to remove the trustees from the membership list. However, as I go through my current membership list (attached) it looks like there are several trustees whose memberships were paid by their libraries.

I'll bring this year's membership paperwork with me to the next meeting in case we get a chance to discuss it.

Erin, for years, we had two lists, membership and a mailing list. The Mailing list I did for the newsletter, and other mailings. I was given a list of all paid members, and all members were sent mailings. I assumed they still were, even though I no longer have an up-to-date list. We also included on that list Governmnet officials, directors of other libraries, etc., who were not member. 
To my knowledge, individual membership should and does include invites to public programs. For example, for years, we had individual members who were school teachers from Vernon, Calcasieu, etc., and several Library workers fromn McNeese. Each Board member was also included. This was also a way of publicizing the activities of Libraries Southwest. 

Perhaps we can discuss at our next meeting. I for one, think all members should be getting info.

Hi, gang! 

First, I really enjoyed last night. A great crowd, lots of camaraderie, 
yummy food and a fun speaker. Thanks to everyone who worked to make this 
year's Author Dinner such a success! Now to the point of this email ... 

When I got home last night, I had a message from a family member who is 
also an individual member of Libraries Southwest. She was upset that she 
had not received any notification of the upcoming Author Dinner, despite 
having paid her dues earlier this year. 

I've never really dealt with the individual membership level of LSW, so I 
didn't know if this lack of communication was an oversight, a misdirected 
piece of mail, or business as usual. I'm sure she would like to know why 
she was not informed of an upcoming event. If anyone else wishes to 
contact her, I'll share information privately. 

My further question is : what all does an individual membership to LSW 
gain for the member? We no longer create a newsletter to share. Is it 
more like a charitable donation than a membership?
