John, no need to wait;  start calling around to folks at AMD.  They have
been very eager to have multiple Linux distributions supported and have been
quietly donating hardware to several distros to achieve that goal.  I don't
have a direct contact for you to try but the marketing folks are likely to
be the best place to start.  You have nothing to lose but your time, and
stand to gain some pretty nice hardware with which to support this project.
