You might want to look lftp. Since i discovered the power of lftp, i've
never ever even looked back again. I think ncftp has some licensing
issues? Didn't that have kind of 'non-free' license anyway? Lazy to
check it out so have to go with memory ....

I've found that if there is something lftp cannot do, i haven't needed
that yet. Everything isn't that easy to master always. That's just my
biased opinion tho...

For me (might be that newer ncftp can do that too) the most valuable
part is that lftp can do speed capping. I set it to only use 90kB/s
and my 1Mbit/s line is still usable even when downloading from fast
site. mirror-command is widely used here too.
