     Have you tried an fmask?  If my memory serves me correctly, I had
trouble mounting a Samba share from another machine until I added
"fmask=0777" to my mount options.  If you are interested, here is my
line from /etc/fstab (yes, I have this mount on boot up):

I'm using the "guest" option since this share is open to everybody.
