I don't run /sbin/dhclient-script actually.  I either do a "ifup eth0"
from the command line or I have used the GUI ethernet tools to activate
the interface. If I just run "dhclient eth0", then it sits there
sending out DHCPDISCOVER requests but never gets an answer from the
cable modem. If I run "tcpdump" on the interface while trying to run
ifup, I see the same thing, DHCPDISCOVER packets going out, but nothing
coming back. The contents of ifcfg-eth0 are just the default contents
from the install. Since I'm at work and can't access the machine
(obviously..:) ), I'm going on memory but I believe it just has:

DEVICE=3Deth0
BOOTPROTO=3Ddhcp
HWADDR=3D<MAC Address here>
ONBOOT=3Dyes
TYPE=3DEthernet

My workstation here at the office runs Whitebox Linux and uses DHCP to
get it's IP and works just fine. I didn't have to do any sort of
configuring to make it work, it just worked from the start.
	The difference that I see, though, is that here at the office the
machine talks to the DHCP server directly where as at home, the DHCP
request, I believe, has to be forwarded by the cable modem. Maybe
dhclient is sending it's request in such a way that the cable modem
doesn't recognize it as such and doesn't forward it? Seems like
something like that would have cropped up pretty often though. Often
enough for me to have found something about it via Google.
