I checked /etc/modules.conf
=20
It had the line:
=20
alias eth0 3c59x (which should be correct, probing identified the NIC
as a 3c905, which I think uses the same driver)
=20
ifcfg-eth0 looked like
=20
ONBOOT=3Dyes
USRCTL=3Dno
PEERDNS=3Dyes
TYPE=3Dethernet
DEVICE=3Deth0
HWADDR=3D00:c0:4f:8e:5c:9b
BOOTPROTO=3Ddhcp
=20
Did an ifup eth0
=20
The command never returned..... the machine does not seem to be able to
obtain an IP address and lease from the DHCP server.
=20
The used the network configuration tool to remove the device eth0, then
added it as a fixed IP device
=20
Ifcfg-eth0 now looks like
=20
ONBOOT=3Dyes
USRCTL=3Dno
PEERDNS=3Dyes
TYPE=3DEthernet
HWADDR=3D00:c0:4f:8e:5c:9b
BOOTPROTO=3Dnone
NETMASK=3D255.255.240.0
IPADDR=3D137.151.46.55
GATEWAY=3D137.151.47.254
=20
Did an ifup eth0 and the command appeared to return normally, but I
still couldn't reach anything on the network.
=20
Rebooted and eth0 seemed to come up normally, but still couldn't reach
anything on the network. Even tried using absolute addresses, but kept
getting "no route to host" from ping, etc.
=20
I could ping localhost and the machine itself using its absolute
address.
=20
Not sure what is going on..
