[WBEL-users] Libpcap versions

I am trying to compile some network monitoring software but 'configure'
reports that libpcap >= 0.8.1 is needed. If I do a 'yum list libpcap' it
reports 0.7.2.

If I do a 'yum update' it reports I have the latest version. 

Assuming later versions are available via an rpm find etc. is it safe to
install them. Any insight appreciated.
