I will second that, same servers [3], upgraded gave me more than
50% improvements in I/Os. I'll say outstanding.
If you can afford it, switch from MegaRAID to Adaptec. The
drivers are lot better quality and are better recognized.
I have found that SuSE supports MegaRAID, lot better than RH,
why? They detect it better. I had to use SuSE to support an older
Dell with a customized version of a MegaRAID adapter, that none
of the RHEL clones would discover.
SuSE has a good track for supporting their software. SuSE still
supports 7.3 [which is almost 4 years old].
