I really like using Mozilla (What Netscape is now built off of.)
because of how universal it is. No matter which platform one uses it on
- -- Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc. -- it works the same way. I have been
very pleased with how easy it is to copy over my Mozilla mail files to a
different platform and have them just work. Indeed, it isn't even that
hard to copy over one's entire Mozilla profile and, with some fixes to
the prefs.js file, have it work.

Netscape (Mozilla) stores e-mail to the hard disk in what is called
the "mbox" format. This format is where every 'folder' you see in the
Mozilla/Netscape client is a file on your hard drive with that same
name. That one file contains all the messages for that mail 'folder'.
I'm never used Ximian, so I don't know whether it uses the mbox
format or the usual alternative, called the "maildir" format. (This is
where each 'folder' in the client is a directory on your hard disk, and
each message in the folder is a file in the directory.) However,
according to this web page:

"Evolution connects to a wide variety of servers such as Pop, Imap,
standard unix mbox spool or directory, maildir format mail directories,
MH – format mail directories, Local Delivery."

Thus, it appears that you should be able to copy your
Mozilla/Netscape mbox files over to the directory where Ximian Evolution
is looking for them, and it should just work. (Ha ha, famous last words.)
On a Windows XP machine, the Mozilla/Netscape mbox files are
usually stored in

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application
Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\{random}.slt\Mail\Local Folders

Unfortunately, since I haven't used Ximian Evolution, I cannot tell
you where the files need to go. Good luck. Remember that Google is
your friend!
