Without knowing more details (like the actual device name), I'd suggest 
trying Intel's driver.  Here's the location of their Gigabit driver:

Here's what I have on a test box:

Hi,

lspci shows:
00:06.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corp.: Unknown device 1076
kernel:  2.4.21-4.EL

What is the quickest way to get this adapter to work ? It's a gigabit nic 
and 
was fully suported by suse 9.0
