[WBEL-users] optimize dat tape block size

I am implementing a backup using  DAT tapes.
my hardware is a Certance DDS5 36/72 GB .
Due to the amount of data, we are using 20/40 GB tapes.
I am currently using 512 bytes as a block size, and tar to backup the 
whole data everyday to one tape.
The server is a file server for about 80 people, almost all the data is 
on compressed format natively (desktops running mandrake and using 
Openoffice since they are a law firm).
can I have a performance gain if use other block size ?
