Well, that's a truly loaded question.  With security updates, you really 
want them just as fast as they can be repackaged and distributed, 
because once a flaw is known, the chances of it being exploited go up 
quite quickly.  On the other hand, some folks want to let things go for 
a while before they install things.  If you are in the former category, 
you probably read RH's news lists on a daily basis.  If you are in the 
latter category, you probably shouldn't put "yum update" in a daily cron 
job.  :)

 From a distribution standpoint, I'd vote with the folks who want the 
updates right away.  However, the others might be satisfied by a 
configuration parameter for yum that will only download packages if 
they're more than "x" days old.
