Hi Jason 
        Did this 2 but i did find this ....

i have never seen a switch have collisions .... ( new 1 coming down to
the site )

Increase the log level in your smb.conf:

log level = 10

There will be a lot of information -- but a lot of information
is better than no information.  Alternately, you could keep
increasing the log level by 1 until you find the problem, but

Once you've done that you can go back through your logs
and see if there's anything that can help you find the
problem.

Also, you could run a packet sniffer on the server and see if
something on the network is killing samba (this would be useful
if samba dies before it can report trouble.  It's unlikely that
that would happen, but this is an option if it does.)
