1. I have the same problem wether it's local or remote
2. I did what "first last" suggested. The fonts are installed. The are 
recognized by Gnome. fonts:/// in Nautilus finds them. But some of the 
applications don't. That's where I am stuck now. Neither gnumeric, nor 
abiword sees and/or interpret the Truetype fonts.
