[WBEL-users] installing tar files

i have  2 questions  1) does anyone have trouble installing tar files or 
configureing them from the terminal or uncompressing them it seems like every 
command that i put even when i did what the book says didnt work
                              
                            2) now that i finally got to uncompress them am 
stuck on getting it installed i do the hole config make install thing but 
nothing happens i have the file in the dir that i want but cant install it from the 
terminal  ANY HINTS
