[WBEL-users] Boot Error after recompile

I recompiled my kernel with no hang ups, but when I reboot I
got an error to the effect "No valid root parameters, change your
root=" /dev/hdf2" or something like that, any way I get a kernel panic
and it won't boot, luckily I didn't overwrite the old one.
Here is my grub.conf:

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this
file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
#          root (hd1,0)
#          kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hdf2
#          initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/hde
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd1,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title White Box Enterprise Linux (2.4.21-15.EL)
	root (hd1,0)
	kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.21-15.EL ro root=LABEL=/ hdg=ide-scsi
	initrd /initrd-2.4.21-15.EL.img

title White Box (new-2.4 kernel)
	root (hd1,0)
	kernel /bzImage ro root=/dev/hdf2 hdg=ide=scsi
	initrd /newinitrd-image
	vga=791
title DOS
	rootnoverify (hd0,0)
	chainloader +1

Aslo here is /sbin/fdisk -l:

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdf1   *         1        13    104391   83  Linux
/dev/hdf2            14      4868  38997787+  83  Linux
/dev/hdf3          4869      4998   1044225   82  Linux swap

If i understand it correctly it's telling me it hdf2 isn't the root
partition, or do I have the syntax wrong?
