So its the correct device then.

> mt -f /dev/st0 erase

> dev/st0: Input/output error
> mt: The device is offline (not powered on, no tape ?).

Try loading the tape with:

mt -f /dev/st0 load

Its not a library by any chance? If so, then you need to use "mtx" instead
of "mt-st"
