Okay, I'll answer my own question. /etc/fstab contains the disks that will get checked. Hard to find, since some disks are listed /dev/hdaX, others via LABEL= Now, hda5, where suse lives, was done with something like LABEL=/OPT. I'm not sure exactly, as my attempted save of the non-working version seems not to have worked. Setting noauto on this line didn't work, so I just deleted it. --John
