I've got Whitebox (S)RPM's for ALSA support, which makes for a much cleaner install... http://www.vanree.net/wbel30/workstation/

I've installed it on several boxes, including those with i810/i815 chipsets and had no issues configuring sound using these RPM's and the included configuration tool. Just be sure to read all the ALSA docs!
