Well.. I'm half way through the solution:
The yum option didn't do the trick. I went ahead and googled as =
suggested and found:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat=3D3&search=3Dkernel-unsupported&srod=
zaj=3D3
Great.. only my current kernel is:
uname --all
2.4.21-15.ELsmp #1 SMP Sun May 16 01:48:39 EDT 2004 i686 i686 i386 =
GNU/Linux
I'm kinda confused a bit:
If the latest is 2.4.21-27.0.1.EL.i686 then How do I upgrade my kernel?
I ran yum update and it prompts me that there are no updates available:
yum update
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: White Box Enterprise Linux 3.0 - i386 - Base
Server: White Box Enterprise Linux 3.0 - i386 - Released Updates
Finding updated packages
Downloading needed headers
No Packages Available for Update
No actions to take
How do I 'force' the kernel update?
Once I have the 'latest' kernel. I can start using the =
kernel-unsupproted option.

You could try 'yum install kernel-unsupported'. I imagine it's in one of =
the WBEL repositories but I haven't checked. If not, try googling it and =
finding it that way, download it and then 'rpm -i' it. Just make sure =
it's the correct version for your kernel.
If that works, you won't have to incorporate anything into the kernel, =
as the modules you need will be loaded as needed.
Hope that helps.

I'm all in favor of not banging my head against the wall (a long =
lasting family tradition I don't want to break).
How do I go about doing the "install the kernel-unsupported modules" =
?=20
All I was able to find so far was 'download,. compile into the =
kernel.. ' options.
Do you have a link for that?
I always see the i2c instructions of how to incorporate into the =
kernel, but are you saying that I don't need to do that?
Or perhaps I didn't (very likely) understand you?

Ummmm, because I like doing things the hard way?? It is so much =
more fun...
No, probably because I didn't know they existed. Now I do.
Thanks!

Why not just install the kernel-unsupported modules?
