Ok, I sent you that mail because it worked for me (AMD 64 Mobile
processor). The manual way to install OO.org in a 64 bit environment
is making a chroot for that subsystem.

I think in Gentoo's home page is more information about this.

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me.

I downloaded a whole load of dependencies, some of which clashed with
packages I've already got installed - e.g. gnutls, e2fsprogs, bzip2-libs.
There are file clashes as well :-(
