I think you don't see it with this either. I've pached the
2.4.23-libata1.patch.gz in my own test-kernels, but that doesn't work
for dual-Opteron for Sil either. Sil is working with single Athlon64
tho.

The release we're talking about, is just 'replica of RHEL3', so you
don't get anything more.

My dual-Opteron is Tyan K8S, so it's pretty much same expect it does have
promise SATA onboard. I do have Sil SATA adapater as PCI-card, so i
have VIA, Promise and Sil covered on 'home lab'.

As above. the libata wasn't working for me with dual-opteron. I aven
had some emailing with the author (Jeff Garzik) and he said pretty much
that 'Sil is braindamaged' :)

When i'll have those amd64/ia64 releases out, it'd be pretty much first
priority fot me to get SATA working under amd64 at least. I do have
2x250GB and 1x120GB SATA-drives laying around just now waiting for
support under amd64.

I am just building the install for ia64 and then i'llhave to test it
out by installing several combinations. I'll expect to upload that
public monday.

HTH
