If you want to utilize HT, you'll need to run an SMP kernel. Otherwise=20
you should disable HT in the BIOS.
I don't know if HT will help, but it shouldn't hurt performance in most=20
cases.
You should post the errors you're seeing. Someone here can be of more=20
help then.
You could also experiment and see if you get the same errors after=20
appending "noapic" and/or "nolapic" to the kernel upon boot.

OT: You're so lucky to be in one of the most beautiful places in the=20
world! I lived in Panama (Atlantic, Margarita) from 91 to 95. It was the =

best time of my life. If I could find a good job there, I'd go back in a=20
heartbeat. Otherwise I'll have to wait until my retirement to move back.=20
:)
So... Let me know if you need any help down there!

[WBEL-users] recommended rpm kernel package please!!!

Saludos desde Panam=E1!!
One of my clients recently acquired an hp ml110 small server..
It has a P4 with HyperThreading . Any time I try to load the smp kernel,=20
it display some message complaining about problems with APIC , but the=20
machine seems to be working o.k.

Wich kernel should i use, the smp enabled kernel or a regular, non-smp=20
aware kernel ??
anyone have experience with HT under Linux? does it'll give a better=20
performance for a file server using nfs ?
thanks in advanced for your help.

RP
p.s. this server will go live on monday, serving about 80 linux=20
workstations and a few win9x/2k/XP clients .
