VMWare is the problem.  I believe you will find in the Red Hat archives that it hasn't been able to install the last couple of versions correctly from physical CDs.  IIRC the best workaround is to use the ISO files a "virtual CDs" to VMWare.  I've never tried VMWare so I don't know the details of how to do it.
