BUT ... the owner doesn't want the help.  How hard is this to
understand?

Nothing ... but the owner doesn't want too.  They do delegate
responsibilities at other distros though.

You can tell him ... not fix his car without his permission.

You can't fix someones brakes who doesn't want you to touch their car.
If he says, "I'll fix it myself later" ... it's his car, not yours.

It has nothing to do with responsibility ... it has to do with
ownership.

If you own something, you decide what happens to it ... it is not anyone
else's freaking business what you choose to do with your car, your house
or your Linux distro.
